Tesla Confirms Model S Details

TelslaS2011 Tesla Confirms Model S Details
Tesla has reassured all of its potential buyers that it will not be following the lead of its competition by increasing its initial price ahead of its release. Tesla has since confirmed that a base Model S, with an estimated 160 miles of range, will retail for about $57,400 with a tax credit of $7,500. The 230 mile range version will carry a $10,000 premium with an additional $10, 000 if you want a chance at making 300 miles on a charge. $77,400 will get you the top of the line Model S 300, a limited edition of 1000 vehicles, which will initially be named the “Model S Signature Series”.
Deliveries are expected to begin around the summer of 2012 in the US, with the 230 and 160 versions coming later in the year. Tesla hopes to produce a total of 5,000 cars in 2012 followed by 20,000 in 2013. There is a two year delivery wait ahead for markets that require a right-hand drive model.

Is this the best looking saloon on sale today?

IN THE classic gangster film Get Carter, the villains drove a Jag MK2. In The Long Good Friday, the vehicle of choice was an XJ6.

This automotive star of this year's gangster film - The Sweeney - was a Jaguar XF. Having clocked one parked up in a Southport side street today, it's not hard to see why.

I've already driven the 2.2 diesel version of the Brit saloon and can tell you that from a driver's perspective it's excellent; one of the best new cars I've tried this year, in fact. But what I could see from the Stratus Grey example I saw, with its understated alloys and meshed grille, was that it looked the part too. In cinematic terms, it's exactly the sort of quietly menacing motor an assasin would drive.

Until this year I would've argued the best looking Jag is in fact the big XJ - there's something about the challenging styling, which stands out next to all the other luxobarges, that I love - but now I reckon the smaller XF's caught up with it. After being wowed by the stunning C-XF concept car of all those years ago, I know I wasn't the only one to be a bit dissapointed with the production version that followed - far too much in the way of gloopy headlights and not enough in the way of visual treats.

The facelifted version, though? That really is a treat for the eyes.

In fact, I'd go as far as to say it's the best looking saloon on sale today. Better than a Maserati Quattroporte or a Merc CLS? I'd reckon so...

Super Car

Some cars are designed for strict track use and others for touring. There are in fact massive differences between most super cars, research will be paramount. Pay particular attention to the ride quality, some cars have a great set up which is perfect for track use and also deliver great ride quality. There has never been a selection of 200mph cars this vast before, it can be easy to over look companies like Noble, Ultima, Spyker and tuning companies which offer real performance foryour money. Sticking to Ferrari, Lamborghini or Porsche might help you sleep at night but it won't give you exclusivity.Choosing the correct super car for your needs is paramount. Super-cars are supposed to be much faster and fearsome than ordinary cars. Though they still are all that, but compared to the Super-cars of the past made almost fifteen years ago they are slightly slower now.

The modern Super-cars have so much more technology that even if you hit the brake the computerinside the car calculates the speed and traction control and then brake the car making the response time slower than older Super-cars; in which the car did exactly what and when you told it to do. Fifteen years ago Mclaren proved that they had the technology to cross the 240 mph speed mark.
Super Car Porche

Though Porche have the same technology to achieve that goal, somehow for some strange reason they held back from doing so. In some old Super-cars like the Ferrari F40 there were no door handles, no radio and no carpets and all these things made it a lot lighter. The F40 could go from naught to 60 in 3.2 seconds which almost no modern super-car can accomplish. New modern carson the other hand have a lot of gadgets but they only serve as distractions. When you are in a super-car is drive and drive fast.Older Super-cars are still much faster than the new contemporary ones.Sports cars offer us the combination of speed, luxury, and safety. People often debate the difference between a sports car and a "sporting" car, for our purposes they are all prestige cars.

2014 BMW Z4 Roadster Ever So Faintly Revised, Gains New Entry Level sDrive18i Edition [85 Photos]

If you were waiting for BMW to apply some of the design lessons learned from Zagato's Coupeand Roadster concepts or at least take some inspiration from this speculative photoshop for its updated, 2014MY Z4, you'll be disappointed.
In fact, you will probably have to be an owner of the current model or a very dedicated Z4 fan to distinguish the styling changes on the hardtop roadster. These are limited to the three-dimensional design of the LED light rings on the headlamps, the BMW lettering on the LED accent lights on top, the new available 17- and 18-inch alloy wheels and a newly designed, tapered surround for the side indicators.

Toyota Pays NHTSA Record $17.35 Million for Delaying Lexus RX Recall on Pedal Entrapment Issue

For the fourth time since 2010, Toyota has been fined the maximum penalty for delaying recalls.
On Tuesday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that it has slapped Toyota with a record $17.35 million (€13.15 million at today's exchange rates) fine for failing to report a safety defect to address floor mat pedal entrapment in the 2010 Lexus RX 350 and RX 450h in a timely manner.
In May this year, NHTSA contacted Toyota regarding a trend in floor mats trapping the gas pedal on said models, but it took the Japanese carmaker a month to tell the safety agency that it was aware of 63 alleged incidents. In June, Toyota went ahead and recalled around 154,000 examples of its RX models to fix the problem.
The fine is the maximum allowed by law and largest single of its kind ever to be imposed against an automaker for a safety defect.

First Drive in NZ: All-New Subaru Forester High On Refinement, Space

Just been driving the new Forester XT turbo in New Zealand, and it's the first Subaru Turbo I've driven with a CVT.
I had mixed feelings about how that transmission would work with the turbo, but I guess that the fact that Subaru's new third generation Lineartronic is going to be used with its new range of European market turbodiesels in both the Outback and Forester later in the year means that it will take the torque.
I noticed no disconcerting flare - often a bugbear with CVTs and more powerful engines - and loved the way the car stepped smoothly off the line, settling into low-revving cruise mode for town and around work, and open-road driving very decorously.

2014 Chevrolet Silverado: A Bolder Visualization of GM's Next Generation Pickup Truck

Move over Ram and F150; this is the new artillery that GM is bringing to the pickup market. The all-new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado is soon to make its official appearance and CarScoop is giving you an early sneak-peak illustration, based on the manyprototype models caught on camera.
The current Silverado has been battling it out strongly since 2007, only finishing as bridesmaid to Ford's F-150 on the sales charts, which is one thing for certain that GM would love to change.
The outgoing model has arguably been wearing the bridesmaid's tag when it comes to styling too; sure, it's reasonably appealing with its modern and rugged clothes, but doesn't push any design envelopes. Being a fresh slate for the 2014 model year, Chevrolet is changing this and gunning Ford, Dodge and Toyota head on in the pickup design stakes.

Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera Patents Updated Design for Gumpert Tornante

Remember the Gumpert Tornante concept from last year's Geneva Motor Show? To refresh your memory, Gumpert joined forces with Italian design house and coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera for the creation of the Tornante study powered by a reworked Audi-sourced 4.2-liter V8 biturbo engine pushing out 700-horses.
In the time that passed between then and now, Gumpert was ready to file for bankruptcy after failing to find a new owner but managed to come back to life and has already begun building vehicles.
The drawings of the Tornante you see here were recently filed with the trademark office (and not leaked, as some sources suggested) by Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera itself and not Gumpert.

New 2014 Mazda6 Goes on Sale on January 2 Priced from $20,880*

Given Mazda USA's subpar press site, we weren't surprised to learn that the Japanese carmaker has silently released pricing for the all-new 2014 Mazda6 sedan on its consumer website.
U.S. sales of Mazda's stylish mid-size sedan that's powered by a 184hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine will begin on January 2, with prices starting at $20,880 for the base Sport model fitted with a 6-speed manual transmission, not including (*) a $795 destination fee (if you live in Alaska it's $840).
